FITNERDZ– I hope everyone is having an amazing monday ! I am currently battling the mass amount of holiday travelers in the Charlotte airport. Every single person is on their own personal mission ignorant to anything outside their 3 ft. bubble. I finally reach my gate and notice I have a wonderful two hour delay (completely my fault I missed my 1st flight Silly Aaron).  But this is not the point of this passage, I sit down minding my own when a beautiful young lady sits down next to me with her mother. (wait for it) Lizzy short of (Elizabeth) is 5 and her favorite color is pink and her dogs name is Max (HAHA). This young lady is full of joy, cheerios and a pinch of a sugar rush. But the main thing I have observed from this energetic lil thing, is her never-ending smile.

This made me think for a second and then while doing one of my favorite pastimes (people watching) I notice no one is smiling. Its not that their frowning its more or less just a flat look, a blank expression. I know that I can be guilty of this at times because and we all have a tendency to think that our life is the hardest and everyone is out to get us. But why cant we just be stoked and excited about life like my new little friend Lizzy. So heres my monday challenge to all of you who took a minute to read my terrible run on sentences. SMILE MORE. Laugh MORE. and see how much it changes your world and maybe just maybe someone else’s.

Spice Up Your Tuesday!

Tuesdays get lost in the weekday mix a lot, they don’t drag like Mondays but they’re not as exciting as Hump DAYZ.  Lets change that this week and spice Tuesday up with some Spicy Chorizo Chili!


  • 1 package of Chorizo Sausage
  • 2 lb Ground Turkey
  • 2 Green Bell Peppers
  • 1 Jalapeno Pepper
  • 1 Poblano Pepper
  • 1 Chili Pepper
  • 1 Cup Chopped Onion
  • 1 Can Diced and Peeled Tomatoes
  • 1 Can Tomato Paste
  • 1 Can Black Beans
  • 1 Can Chili Beans
  • 1 Can Unsalted Corn
  • 1 Tbs Cumin
  • 1 Tbs Minced Garlic
  • 1 Tbs Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste


  • First, cook the chorizo sausages on the grill or on a skillet.  While those are cooking dice up all of the peppers and onion and add to a large pot with the olive oil, cumin, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.



  • Next, over medium heat cook all of the peppers and onion until soft to the touch, then add the ground turkey stirring when needed.  As the ground turkey cooks, chop up the cooked chorizo.
  • Once the ground turkey is done, add the cooked chorizo and all of the canned ingredients.  Stir ingredients together, lower the heat, cover, and allow the chili to simmer for 20-30 minutes or until the beans are cooked through.



Finally, add avocado slices, sour cream, cheese, or serve as is and enjoy!




This recipe has a lot of fresh ingredients and makes a healthy batch of chili so I recommend buying the ingredients a couple days before and freezing some for next week!

Thirsty Thursday

Hey FitNerdz!

Happy Thursday and congrats on making it to the almost weekend!  Today I have an awesome drink for you that will get you hydrated and ready for anything the weekend has in store for you!


1 Cup Coconut Water

1 Frozen Banana (Slice it up before you freeze it to make blending easier)

1 Cup Frozen Blueberries

1/2  Cup Rolled Oats

If you want it a little sweeter feel free to add honey or more fruit.  Looking for a little more protein?  Add your favorite vanilla protein powder!  Blend it all together and enjoy!

Pineapple mango SALSA!

Taco tuesday mmmhmm why not?



Here’s a great little recipe iv thrown together that you can add to almost anything 🙂

Half a cup of onions

1 cup of mango

1 cup of pineapple

1 cup of red cabbage

2 tablespoons of diced jalapeños

Half a lime and lemon

Dash of salt and pepper


Dice up all the lovely ingredients and enjoy pretty simple just let the


kid curiosity take control !

So its that time of the year and I’m trying to get big…. images-1


Just kidding Im not talking about that kind of juicing. My roommate and I decided on a whim today that we would whip out the old school juicer and give it a shot.  This is a great healthy alternative that allows you to get those healthy nutrients into your body.



1 grapefruit

1/2 a beet

2 carrots

1 head of Kale

1 cup of water

1/2 cup of Pom cherry juice

Clean em, Cut em, Juice em, ENJOY!
